Ceremony & Baraat Info

Outdoor Ceremony Flame:

Not applicable as neither hotels has outdoor function space.

Indoor Ceremony Flame:

Indoor ceremony flames are allowed as long you obtain the necessary permits from the San Francisco Fire Department and a San Francisco Fire Department officer is on-site during the event (separate fees will apply). The hotel staff will work with you to set this up as they understand the significance and importance of the ceremony flame.

Here's ShaadiShop's Guide on Questions to Ask your Pandit (or officiant) about the Ceremony Flame - things the venue may ask you.

Anand Karaj:

The Hilton San Francisco Union Square and the Parc 55 would be happy to host your Anand Karaj ceremony. You'll have to find a Granthi to perform the ceremony. The closest one that does Sikh destination weddings is out of Vancouver.

Baraat:

Wouldn't it be amazing to have your baraat going through San Francisco's Union Square? The hotel allows horse and ele baraats as long as the vendor you work with is licensed, bonded, and insured (requirements all of your vendors must meet). A car baraat here would be really difficult and would probably require you to block off city streets. You'd have to work with the city and the hotel to sort that out.

Here's a categorized list of Northern California vendors for South Asian weddings, including baraat vendors.

Permits:

If you need a fire for your Hindu, Jain or other wedding ceremony, you will be required to obtain a fire permit from the San Francisco Fire Department
